One Inky, One Classic

Lots and lots of stamping, although very simple
bulding up the layers and in groups of 3

Last weeks cards, just simply, ink sprays, cuttlebuged
 then sponged over
to make the embossing pop, very simple

Tim's February Tag

Here is my February tag, its been drying nicely overnight,
The only thing I had on Tim's list  for this one was the fired brick distress stains.
The card is a stamp from Eileen,a member of http://www.cardmakingparadise.com/ the arrows hand drawn, and coloured with dylusions ink, the twine is crochet cotton marked with a black marker, and the XoXoXo is metal tape, painted black and then sanded off, the oval is just red card and a silver zylon pen has no dome just chrystal effects.
This one I like and am pleased with the outcome.

Tim Holtz 2013 Tag January

A bit late I know but decide to join in Tim's 2013 tag challenge, you can finds his here
http://timholtz.com/12-tags-of-2013-january/

As you will see mine is just a bit different, well a lot really . mine is more green, didn't have any filmstrip so drew it on, no male hand so used a ladies and cross hatched it to try and man it up a bit and no nuts and bolts (in the garage and too many spiders, and hubby away) so used metal word embellishments.
The February one is drying as we speak so will post later.
Have a great day. xxx

Yeah.... We had Classes

Well all the nasty white stuff has gone and finally had a class this week. In fact it was 2 rolled into one, the first was to show how to use a  A6 frame embossing folder different ways, first 3, Standard and sponged edges to highlight, next just using 2 strips, and then elongating it, as in the zebra photo, the frame in this one is about 7" long
Also making it into a 4" square and narrowing it at the sides, these cards are quite basic but we were concentrating on using the one folder

With all the new dies and gadgets, inks and micas about nowadays, we sometimes forget about the old techniques which a lot of new crafters have never seen, so for this weeks class I have gone back a bit We did the good old fashioned embossed resist, I still love the effect of this technique, here you go using different leaf stamps, versamark, clear embossing powder and sponged ink, lovely result
The other one as to do partial embossing on your embossing machine, stamped in the "gap" and chalked the embossing, the butterfly is made from a stamped and punched out flower.
Enjoy

Plant a Seed

Well here we are end of January, where has the time gone,  anyway after the quiet weekend I have finished another page in my journal, this one I dislike a lot not what I was after at all, but its done and I refuse to rip out pages or cover with designer paper, thats the fun of it, just play and see what you get, the orange background is done with arylic paint , I like that bit and texture paint through the meadow stencil, this is the nasty bit, but once on I couldn't cover so stamped the flowers onto tissue paper, coloured with promarkers acut out and glued over the top to try and hide my mess. A bit more leaf stamping and that will have to do. So a little promise. I promise to show all my pages good and "bad" ( nothing is bad, just not quite what you wanted), this little bit is aimed at my ladies who are always saying " its alright for you , you don't make mistakes"  Yes I do, I just carry on playing until it will do. :-))...... Very Quite Weekend

I will start from Friday evening, looking forward to quiz night with my brother George and sister in law Bev a weekly thing, the snow started while we were there last week and we ended up having to leave the car  as the drive is uphill and Daves car is rubbish in the snow, Bev has snow tyres on her car so she gave us a lift home.
So we thought it might be quite this week as the snow would have put some people off, Well that was a bit of an under statement, us as one team, one other team and the quiz master, so needless to say the quiz was cancelled. We sat and had a couple of drinks then went our separate ways.

George and Bev   See how crowded the room is :-))
Was really looking forward to class on Saturday morning, but that Friday night was the night the snow decided to freeze, so those people that had slush on their roads were now faced with lethal icy roads athough my road was clear the girls coudn't make it. Sigh.

Now here we are Sunday, been to work this morning, playing on my journal a bit this afternoon although nothing to show just yet, and now waiting for dinner, for those of you that don't know, I do not cook, really not at all, hubby does it all. Might end up going out after dinner, will have to see after I've eaten.
So thats all for now.

Zentangle

A bit of Zentangle doodling going on here just finished last week, Although not true Zentangle, I drew around die-cut negatives. I love the effect
Love the green and orange together too.

BTW if you are going to have a go at a journal put masking tape down the middle of the pages, it strengthens the pages as they get very wet, Here you can see it clearly as I didn't try to cover it, not so obvious on other pages. See you next time xxx

My world is full of Colour

I just love this one very colourful. all Dylusions ink, then bleached out the flowers and re-coloured with watered down inks, butterflies from a SU die and bleached out around the edges. The bees stamped onto tissue and glue and sealed over the masking tape to cover. As you can see this one done this year .

Curiosity

Got to smile , seeing this stencil and texture paint again , well they make good backgrounds.
This one done 4th Jan this year.

Lots of work in this one All the images are stamped onto tissue and modge podged straight onto the page,
all inks and stamps are Dylusions.

Dig It

Umm a really busy one this time done end Nov, can you spot the date stamps?. Gesso and stencils again can you tell I had just found this technique :-))

Journal Cover Part 2

Here it is finished book cover, very simple, cheapo black acrylic painted or if like me use your fingers to rub all over, wait for about 10 seconds then wipe off with a paper towel, you can add more if required or if you don't like it then just clean off with a baby wipe and start again.

Some people have asked about the shapes, die-cut out of about 250 cardstock and 2 stuck together or thin cardboard like cereal boxes not too thick or the tape will rip, but then thats no problem either just patch it up, and small pieces off tape are easier to handle than larger pieces and I think give a better effect.

Natures Beauty

This one done on 19th November is one of my favourites, again gesso through a stencil, spraying and using the negative through numerous stencils and I love the splatterd butterflies, bubblewrap black dots and stamping.

Da Vinci

This one is a little bit different done in the middle of November. Just spraying through a stencil and stamping.

Second go -- Sweet Friend

Well here is my second attempt using Dylusions this time, much brighter.
the flower stamps around the border are Su and the images are Dylusions. This page was done on 4th Oct 2012.

I will post 2 more tomorrow until I am up to date .

Journal First Play

Firstly I must apologize for the quality of the photos, they were all taken from my mobile and although lovely and clear IRL for some reason a bit dull here. Hopefully will be a bit clearer when enlarged.

Well here is the first journal page I tried, its a bit daunting just opening a page in the book and going for it, hopefully it will be good to look back on in future years.

This was using Sticky Fingers Ink Sprays and as you will see later on Dylusions are much brighter and I have been using these since. The white swirls is using Gesso through a stencil. The stamps of course are Octopode, you either love them or hate them :-)) The leaves and flowers are from SU and the bugs are from Dylusions the new love of my life. This page was done 21st Sept.

Thanks for looking and Happy Crafting xxx

Snowed In , So Blogging Time

Well we have lots of snow here and I am stuck indoors, so thought I would do some blogging.

Over the next few days I will be posting pages from my first journal mostly using Dylusions Ink Sprays and stamps. The journal was started last September, 7 of us are going to be doing one, the first for all of us, should be interesting as most have never used spray inks before. It started as a challenge to buy a book they could use for journal-ling and cover it using metal tape.  So for today here is mine.

These are so simple to do but you must use a hardback book, just ask some of my friends :-))

Die-cut shapes and drywall tape stuck onto the book cover, then strips of metal tape, I got mine from the cheap German store rub all over to adhere to the shapes and then define the shapes with a paper stump. I rubbed it all over with a metal sponge thingy, the holey sort you use to clean saucepans, not that I would ever do such a thing. This takes the glare away from the tape and gives it an aged look. Its not quite finished as I need to rub paint into it, but thats for another post.

Anyway, happy crafting and keep warm.xxx

Zentangle Doodling Style

I first heard of Zentange Art about 2 years ago, it looked fantastic but I thought very complicated, how wrong could I have been, the basics are so easy so anyone can do it, but like everything else, you become better with time, I hope so anyway :-))

Zentangle was first started by Maria Thomas and Rick Roberts, many years ago, I'm not sure how long, I have been trying to find out through the web, the earliest date/photo I have found is 2000, but it could have been started years before that.

Go to  http://www.zentangle.com/   have a look and enjoy.

These butterflies were done by drawing through a stencil and doodling zentangle style. I personally wouldn't call it Zentangle, but I love the effect.
